Chris Searles was born in Austin, Texas in 1971.
Musician
As a teenager, Chris's first band became his hometown's biggest musical phenomenon - in its only one year of existence. He later played drums and percussion for Shawn Colvin, Alejandro Escovedo, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and countless others, earning two Grammy nominations, appearing at numerous festivals, and crisscrossing the country.
Entrepreneur
In 2005, Chris changed gears and founded GoodCommonSense, an eco-sustainable living store making "green" easy for individuals, businesses and organizations. In 2006, Chris founded The Sustainable Shopper's Ball! - an ongoing green living festival, attracting over 35,000 people to date. Chris is also founder of The University of Texas Sustainable Business Summit, The Sustainable Church, Green Tips from Great Kids, Austin350, and Austin's Green 4th of July Celebration.
Advocate
Chris formed Core Media Group (2008) with the intention of increasing popular enthusiasm for sustainable products and services. Core Media produces informative, interactive experiences anyone can enjoy. The company's mission is to communicate directly with the innate logic that exists in every person, advocate for rapid transition to an environmentally sustainable economy, and strengthen demand for sustainable prosperity.
