Beyond the Flame

Beyond the Flame is a timeline of the history of energy use, beginning with humans

controlling fire 50,000 years ago, to the present, and into the future. It provides

context and perspective to current issues of electric power generation, climate change,

and transportation.

Beyond the Flame will unfold as a series of articles over the next few weeks. Here is a brief outline of the series --

      race. The evolutionary impacts will be as

              great as when we learned to use fire.

Beyond the Flame is a 50,000 year timeline, but it gets very specific and local as we

focus on recent history right here in Austin.  The future gets clearer if we study history.
